Hippy Love – Regina & Rasheed Tie The Knot 30.08.15

Regina and Rasheed had the most beautiful, intimate wedding two weeks ago in Cooper’s Hill. The McCallum family has been a part of my life for over 8 years and they could not be any luckier to have welcomed Regina to their family.

I had the pleasure of being their photographer and even more fun, was being a part of the DIY decor team. Regina intended to keep things simple – a low key, backyard wedding. I suggested a few ideas to give her a visually stronger theme. The idea of a flower pot wall, strings lights, mason jars and the inclusion of burlap and twine for texture were the main elements implemented. The day before the wedding Regina and I painted the backdrop with our hands and decided the layout of the pots. I wanted to give them something a little more personal, so I wrote their nick names on chalkboard with a few props to compliment the “Peacock and Duckhead forever”. It was kind of corny, but I figured it would give them something to look back on and also, to give guests something to giggle about.

If I had to choose my favourite detail of the wedding, it would be the string flowers by Topp In Designz. I felt it gave the tree a whimsical feel and just added to the rustic/hippy feel of the wedding decor.

It was a fun time connecting with old friends. Nothing beats a wedding that is personal to you.
